Ok I found a lateral puzzles book lying around in my book collection, so taking no credit for the puzzles I am going to post here, I start my series of lateral thinking puzzles. No hard feelings Iceman Here goes: A man and his wife goes on a vacation. Two months later, the man called the police to report the location of a body near the place where he had been on holiday. The police thanked the man and then asked why it had taken him two months to report the body. What was the reason?

He's just got back from the holiday he went on for 2 months without any access to telephones, and so reported it at the first convenient opportunity. After all, he's not going to ruin his holiday time just to call the police about a body being found. After all, it's not as if it's going anywhere... Either that or he's just come out of a coma, and his first action after two months is to report where he had found the body shortly before being put into a coma/otherwise disabled for two months

No Three Hands, he had a cellphone and he is a dutiful citizen. He was in perfect health and enjoyed his vacation.

It could have been a two months long holiday and he saw the body on the way back home from the plane at take-off. He called the police immediately upon lending. It perfectly fits the story if you read it bit-by-bit. Police asked the wrong question and so the answer is: "No, I did not wait a minute. I called you immediately I could".

They are archaeologists and found remains of an early hominid. They call the police to safeguard the area while they are away.

Two months after they are showing a slide show of their vacation photos to the neighbors. One of the neighbors asks, "So what's with the dead guy in the background?"

I'd guess that the body washed up on shore.

Chunktug got it. He saw the body in the photos he developed after he got back from vacation. He did not have the fancy digital camera, you know. Just the plain old film camera.
