He can see his own cards. Alternatively, he could have counted cards, and these were the last ones.

There's a lot of money on the table because they've played their way through most of the deck, and Jack has a good memory so he knows what's left. That's my guess.

They're playing hold-ems and he's got the nuts? I don't like the way the question is worded, who is "he"?

| But like Keypad says, if they're playing hold'em there's lots of possibilities for a player to either be certain that he will win, or else be certain that he will at least split the pot (which is still a gain if he splits the pot with one other player and some of the other players have also put money in). EG if a straight flush is possible on a given set of community cards, the player may have the best possible one; if a straight flush is NOT possible, the player may have the only possible (or the best possible) 4 of a kind, if neither is possible, he may have the best possible ffull house)

| Standard poker just means no wild cards are involved. Hold'em is a form of standard poker and I agree that in Hold'em there are a number of ways to know one has the winning hand, IF the flop is in your favor. For example, you're holding an ace - ten and the king, queen and jack show up in the flop. Or holding the ace for the "nut" flush.

| You have the best hand, but you haven't won just yet, without seeing the last 2 cards..
