A man walks into a bar approaches the bartender. He asks for a glass of water. The bartender then pulls out his gun and fires at the man, barely missing his head, to which the man replies,
" Thanks",
and walks out. Why?

The bartender can see that the man has hiccups, which would explain why he wants a glass of water. He pull out the gun and misses to scare him, since it is commonly known that sudden fright can cure hiccups.
I've heard one similar to this where one person is getting a drink at a drinking fountain, turns around to see a gun pointed at her, then both her and the person with the gun start laughing.
