Even though a man has several clocks in his house and a watch, he calls a phone line that tells you the time. Why? 2 answers.

Some ideas: - He is blind . - He came back from a long holiday and all clocks and watches stopped working. He needs to ask the time to set them. - He is in love with the girl that tells the time, not suspecting it is just a machine . - He is testing his phone line. - He is testing the machine telling the time .

He and his house were displaced in time, so he needs an external reference for the proper time

The man can read the time, but is not sure if it is AM or PM. Or the man is in the bathroom where there is no clock, but he has a cell phone (the kind without a clock).

There is a scheduled power cut at night. He knows the lights should come back after an hour, but it seems soo long. He cannot read the time, it is dark, so he calls the talking clock. Yes, the phone network usually has its own power supply.

He just moved in the house in Rome: he used to live in London so the clocks were set on London time.

EITHER He has been on the phone to his girlfriend. Since he called her, he is now concerned that his wife might come home and use the redial feature. So he calls the speaking clock to (try to) cover his tracks OR He is in the house of someone he doesnt like, and he wants to clock up a larger phone bill.

He is a maniac. When he sees a clock, he just has to buy it. And he cannot help calling the talking clock all the time.
