A man is found hanging from a very high light fixture in his house, upon investigation the detectives discover there was no sign of breaking and entering as the doors were securely locked (every sign in the house dismisses the possibility of murder), so his death is ruled suicide. The detectives are now puzzled because the house is empty of furniture, and they just cannot figure out how this man could have possibly gotten himself up on the light fixture, and there not be one single sign of how he got there. It's up to you to help determine exactly how he got up there. the clues are HE 'DID' COMMIT SUICIDE HE STOOD ON SOMETHING THAT IS NO LONGER VISIBLE NO SIGNS OF WHAT HE STOOD ON, THE HOUSE IS EMPTY and it was not assisted

He used a table. That table had turned to dust by the hundreds of thousands of termites infecting the house.. Of course, it could always be something much cooler..

Well, if you check the guy's record as an Olympic class high jumper who, due to having been exposed as a cheat who used steroids to improve his performance became suicidal, he clearly did not require any assistance from furniture, since he simply jumped up, grabbed the light fitting and, using his enhanced upper body strength, managed to fashion a noose large enough for his head, and hang himself in shame... Either that or you notice the carpet is somewhat damp...

I remember my older sister telling me this riddle when I was about 8 years old, I loved it and I would tell it to everyone I knew, but I haven't heard it in years now.

It is not coherent. How can you speak of "unsupported suicide" if the guy is "hanging from a very high light fixture in his house". A fixture is a support.

Since it is a very high light fixture, I must opt for this solution, instead of the usual - ice, or should I say, steps made of ice: the expensive light fixture automatically comes down for cleaning because it is programmed so, I do not know, say once a month, so while it was down, he has hang himself on the fixture. So, no actual puzzle this is, just a question, really, for the rich blokes, and poor detectives.

| Good answer. Better than the block of ice.
