Why did a man who was not suicidal and not threatened in any way throw himself through a plate-glass window on the 24th floor of an office building and so fall to his death?

Did he know it was the 24th floor? Was he sane? Did he see something pass the window?

Was he inside the building jumping out? Or outside jumping in? Or neither?
