Ok, maybe you heard this one already... but here it goes... A wife cooked dinner for her husband and oversalted it... in fact, she dropped over 1kg of salt directly in his dinner... she was pretty worried what the husband would say when he tried it... as he came home, she served the dinner... as he started eating, he asked if she could get him some salt. she did,and he added a bit of salt to his dinner... and of course, ate it with great delight... What did the woman cook?

Boiled eggs? But I don't know why she would want to add salt to the water.

| It's common practice actually. The reason most people that do it do it, is because their moms did it, and their moms did it etc. Why anyone started to do it in the first place isn't entirely clear. It has been suggested the water will boil at a higher temperature, and such things, but anything short of a kilogram of salt wouldn't make much of a difference

Yeah well, i was thinking of sth else: it is really strange that she dropped a bit over a kilo salt, caus, at least in my parts, salt is packed in kilo bags, so it would be really hard to drop more than a kilo, esp. by accident... well, since it's an old OTR, or as it is, orally transmitted riddle, maybe the part with the quantity of the salt is redundant... how bout sayin: a lot of salt

| Either this is a huge meal, that needs a lot of salt, or it is encased in something to protect it from the salt at first. For instance, if you boil an egg in water ( with or without salt ), and then lift it out of the water and 'peel' it, bye bye salt. Since boiling eggs don't necesarily need salt, I guess this answer would mostly be correct. But, I'm not really certain if this is the correct answer.

Another far-fetched explanation. She was doing spaghetti for herself and boiled eggs for her husband. She thought: why bother with 2 pots, just cook everything together. So, when she added salt, her own meal was terribly spoilt. But she has her pride and tried very hard to pretend nothing happened. But when he innocently asked for a little bit of salt, it was too much. It ended in a divorce.
