You guys are good at these and after the 'bank robbery' this should be easy. Same as before, a crime, suspect and the answer waiting to be found. A ship carrying 10 passenger and 5 crew members crashed into some rocks. The ship later searched for the survivors. The captain was found murdered in his cabin and only 5 survivors were found. The rest were found dead, they had drowned. Naturally the 5 remaining were suspects to the murder of the captain: 1. The cleaner of the ship (sorry i can't help it, in all the riddles like this there always ends up to be a cleaner some how. ) 2. Emily (passenger) 3. Tom (passenger) 4. The cook oh the ship 5. Ted (passenger, old man and a bit deaf.) There always seems to be people dying in these. Next time i'll make sure no one dies. Off you, you find the clue, you find the answer it's as simple as that.

Okay - start off with a search of all cabins, but particularly the captain's cabin. How was the captain killed? Is it known whether he was killed before or after the wreck? What is the story of each of the survivors?

Can someone back up Tom and Emily's alibi? Can anyone vouch for the other passengers as to their whereabouts before the shipwreck? Has anyone seen these knives before? Who knew the captain that well to want to kill him?

Artifact knives and Tom & Emily just came back from an archeological dig. Hmmm... Tom & Emily go off together on a dig, even though its John that Emily is engaged too. Hmmm... It seems the answer is just as obvious as Kitty said: Ted did it. As his remarks clearly indicate, Ted is a paragon of intelligent reasoning and intense compassion. Seeing the obvious Soap Opera situation developing between John, Emily, and Tom, it was clear that the only way he could spare them the embarrassment of such an inane plot was to kill them. So in an act of mercy he put John out of his misery using knives that Ted purchased as a young lad. He is still waiting for his opportunity to help the other two. The passengers killed in the shipwreck were simply an pleasant bonus. Things are so much quieter without them.

I like your answer Icarus but it not that. Maryl: 1.The people were too busy to notice much but the cleaner does says that Emily was normally in the captain's cabin but the evening it happened she wasn't, she had been throwing up in her room. As for Tom no one saw him. 2.They all in separate room so they did not see the others really. 3.They re the knives found on the archaeologic dig. 4. All of then really, i cleaner was the one who knew him the least.

Well from what everyone has gathered up to now, it sounds like Tom did it with the knives from the dig, probably because he wanted Emily; so we only need to figure out how it happened? Is that right?

So I imagine when Tom found the love letters, he totally lost it, and schemed his evil plot to exterminate John, which according to the aforementioned information, must have been between the time John left the dig and Tom raped Emily; unless I've got my wires crossed, which I usually do trying to figure these riddles of yours out.
