What happened in 1961 that will not happen again for over 4000 years?

I've turned my trivia portal upside-down, inside-out, concentrated on seperate words in the sentence... not working. Just kidding, this one's a real classic.

And was the gap from the previous occurence a more reasonable 80 years?

Come to think of it, if my idea is right, the next occurrence would be 2 years from now, not 4000+. At least if everything is expressed the right way. Expressed in other fashions, it would be in 4006 years.

| That was rather astute calculating, and an interesting deduction, my good man.

The year's date reads the same when turned upside down. That will not happen again until 6009.

That happened last year. Let's not mix inversion and mirroring, Icarus.

I was refering to the previous occurence before 1961, not before this year.

| I was objecting to "2 years from now".

| Okay.. I suppose that I was rotating that one around a vertical axis instead of a horizontal. But it really comes down to how you interpret the question, doesn't it? Your interpretation is equivalent to "the year posesses center-symmetry." Mine is "The year is symmetric". Under both, it is still not 4000 years until the next occurence, if one uses the appropriate font.
