This isn't so much a riddle as a lateral thinking puzzle. Generally you are allowed to ask as many yes/no questions as you want of the questioner. Unless you can ask questions these puzzles start so general that they cannot be solved unless you happen to have heard it before. Example: Two men are dead in a cabin in the woods, how did they die? answer: They were in a plane that crashed, it is an airplane cabin. At a guess, though, I would say it was a meteorite that landed on him.

This is a riddle given to me by my science teacher. She wouldn't give us anything else but whoever gets the answer gets extra credit. I really need some extra credit so if anyone has heard it before please post up the answer.

The man is Superman and the rock is kryptonite. Or the man is a Neanderthal and the rock is an arrowhead fashioned by a Cro-Magnon who out-evolved him. Or the man is a mountain climber and the rock is the Rock of Gibraltar that he just fell off of. Or the man is a scuba diver who got scooped up by a fire-fighting water-dumping airplane that dumped its load of water on a fire and the diver fell on this rock. Or the man is D.B. Cooper and his parachute never opened. Or the man just passed a great big kidney stone that caused internal bleeding on its way out. Or the man is a camper who built a campfire and surrounded the fire with damp porous rocks that exploded in his face. Or ...

He isn't anybody any more, because he's dead, and he died of lack of oxygen to the brain (all causes of death can be reduced to lack of oxygen to the brain).

| Not true, the brain needs more than oxygen to stay alive, for instance nutrients.. Besides, if someones head explodes <insert granade> it's not the lack of oxygen that is a cause of death, after all, with the brain spread over such a large area oxygen can reach it much more easily.. And just think about what an injection of pure oxygen into the brain will do.. Perhaps damage to the brain would make a better 'universal' cause of death, oxygen deprivation is just one cause of brain damage after all.. But I wouldn't hold my breath trying to prove it :p

Certain poisons could get around this too. Oh, and what if you were incinerated. If it is fast enough, there isn't enough time for oxygen deprivation to the brain to be an issue before there is no brain. I am sure we could come up with more, but that would hijak this thread into something nasty.

It's a pretty idiotic riddle, if you ask me. It just said that the rock killed him. How did he die? THE ROCK KILLED HIM! That just answered half of my question. You cannot know who this man is with just the riddle.

As I said, it is not a riddle, but a lateral thinking puzzle that requires communicating back and forth with the questioner to be solved. They are good for long car rides.
