I found this question in a game development forum(all replies seemed stupid though) You are shrunk to the height of a nickel and your mass is proportionally reduced so as to maintain your original density. You are then thrown into an empty glass blender. The blades will start moving in 60 seconds. What do you do?

Well, you're small enough for the blades to miss you by a mile, if you stand under them. But the vortex of air they whip up may drag you into the blades. You might be able to jump out, considering you'll be disproportionally strong (volume, and thus weight, goes down with the third power of scale; strength with square, I think.)

Our first priority will be to stay alive, right? towr mentions that the air movement caused by the blades can/might kill you if you just duck under them. So why not stay at the center of the blender? The air there should be stationary enough for it to be safe. (Think something similar to staying in the center of a tornado or hurricane) -chronodekar

You could climb the etch marks of the blender. I've heard that answer from somewhere. You could also run around and around the blender, kept up by centrifugal force.

| Aren't the etch marks on the outside of the blender? You could always start knocking on the glass in hopes of getting the attention of the person operating the blender.

| I don't think you can make a lot of noise at that size; it's smaller than a fruit fly.

| There must be some monster sized fruitflies where you are! Where I come from, fruit flies are smaller than a pin head, way smaller than a nickle!

| Or maybe you have monster sized nickels. 1.95 mm isn't an exorbitant size for a fruit fly. (But that's the US nickel, I had our own equivalent in mind, which is smaller) Quote:Where I come from, fruit flies are smaller than a pin head, way smaller than a nickle! |
| How large are your pin heads? That fruit fly looks like about 2-3 mm to me, if the given scale is correct.

It is not clear whether your height equals the nickel diameter or the nickel thickness.

Stand between the blade and the edge of the glass (there should be some room), hold your shirt above your head, and just as the blades start to spin, jump. The air should move fast enough up the sides to catch on the shirt and push you up. If this attempt fails... well...

You could cut the cables at the center of the motor to stop the rotation of the blades 8) 8) 8)

For the guy in the blender, it is not a philosophical question, it is a matter of life or death!
