Sentence Construction
« on: Jun 22nd, 2003, 11:55pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

1) Form a sentence which describes its own letter, syllable, and word count.

2) Construct a true sentence of the form:
"This sentence contains __ a's, __ b's, __ c's, ...", where the blanks represent numbers that are spelled out.

3) What true sentence has the form: "There are __ 0's, __ 1's, __ 2's, ..., in this sentence"?

[The 's' can be dropped if there is only one of any number.]

Nice.  Smiley

So "sixty-seven" is considered to be two words in English?

Hyphenated words are always a little iffy on word counts. You can go either way. I would call this good.

I'm not sure if this is correct because I started to get tired of counting them again...then modifying, then counting, then modifying...and counting again to make sure the sentence was correct.  Of course, I had to add some words that are not necessary to make it easier on myself.

This sentence has three a’s, one b, two c’s, two d’s, thirty-five e’s, eight f’s, two g’s, seven h’s, fifteen i’s, one j, one k, one l, one m, seven twenty-six n’s, sixteen o’s, one p, one q, five r’s, twenty-nine s’s, nineteen t’s, four u’s, seven v’s, six w’s, five x’s, four y’s, one z, and no sex tuition.

I see two 2's.  NvM.  Scratch that But I believe you only have to change two numbers to make the sentence true.

There are 1 0, 7 1s, 3 2s, 2 3s, 1 4, 1 5, 1 6, 2 7s, 1 8, and 1 9 in this sentence.

Ok, now I'm pretty sure it's right. Thanks for the correction. And, while we're at it...

Oh man...at least someone checked it.  I give up on that one.  Thanks Snifit

Actually...This is what I've decided:
This AEEENNNNHIIOOSSTTUVX sentence has three a’s, one b, two c’s, two d’s, thirty-five e’s, eight f’s, two g’s, seven h’s, fifteen i’s, one j, one k, one l, one m, twenty-six n’s, sixteen o’s, one p, one q, five r’s, twenty-nine s’s, nineteen t’s, four u’s, seven v’s, six w’s, five x’s, four y’s, one z,

Once I become powerful and rule the world under my iron fist...I will make this word, "AEEENNNNHIIOOSSTTUVX" into an adjective that will have the same meaning as "long".
