with this i am confused about the question. I am guessing hte answer is a dollar because a profit would almost be made (even though h/t = 1). i say this is because if people get an incorect flip, the people running the game make money.

Well, you can only get a dollar if the first coin is heads and you stop there. But there's only a 50% chance of that happening; so the value of the game is 50ct + 1/2 the value of the game starting with tails.

It is worth infinite value even though you cannot make that much. It's a paradox. If you don't believe me, check wikipedia.

| Have you even read the question? Because it cannot be worth more than a dollar. Quote:You can start flipping a coin, and at any time claim a prize in cents equal to the fraction of flips that came up heads. So, if you stop playing after getting 4 heads in 5 flips, you earn 80 cents. How much is the game worth? |
| The percentage of coins that turn up heads can never be more than 100%, so you cannot win more than 100 cents. You were probably thinking about a different puzzle.

Oh, I thought it was the one where you roll until you get tails and get $2^number of heads.

| Yeah, when people answer puzzle from the 'main' page; they really should quote it before replying. Especially when there are other similar puzzles.

Duelly noted from now on, but I did post that on my first day remember and since then, I haven't touched the main site, as it hasn't.
