Azgard's Riddles

You may have noticed (or not) that, lately, I have been writing a few riddles of my own. You may also have noticed that not all of them are good. I am trying to become a better riddle writer, but I need some input and feed back.
As most of you have had a lot of exposure to riddles, and can write some very good riddles, I was wondering if you would be willing to provide me with some feed back here and there. A little constructive criticism from time to time.
I would really appreciate it!

Though he's not been around for a while (sniff) Raven was the fella to emulate, IMHO.
For that matter, Whisky Foxtrot Tango has the gift as well.
I'm a littel hesitant to share how I think about making riddles, only beacuse it feels like giving a clue to all future riddles I make.
nonetheless...
I try to think of the word as both the word (what it means) and its glyphs (what letters make it up).
If you can think of a double entendre, slip it in.
Rhyming is nice, but 2ry to a good riddle.
I can look through you last few and tell you what I like, what I feel needs work (IMH*O)

This was a nice little riddle.
There are instances when a bit of poetry heightens the riddle.
Perhaps
Often seen, rarely spotted
My home was once alloted
Until the first tenant rotted.
Unless they've suffered such eviction
Most wouldn't choose this affliciton.
I'd say that with great conviciton.
It's actualyl kind of hard to rewrite- sign of it being pretty tight.

I appreciate it! I find it helpful to get input from others, otherwise I just end up making the same mistakes...
The feedback doesn't even have to be in this thread, it could be done right in the riddle's own thread... Or through PM...
Boy, how obvious is it from this that I am a student?

Pretty much everyone here is, in one manner or another.
Raven was definitely the one to emulate if you are looking to write a more "traditional" riddle. It seems this is how you like to write. (I usually fall in this category as well) If you get tired of the riddles with more form, and are looking to branch out, Noke's posts are worth a look. They are usually a little less form-fitting and more crazy inspiration, but these type of riddles often take more time to develop, both in writing and solving. While those two, to me, define the two extremes in terms of "styles," there also those who balance the two. Check Iceman and his previous alias, alien, as well as denis (though I haven't seen him writing recently) for good examples.
And finally I'd say your riddles are well-written if sometimes a little easy, but that's a good way to start. The future challenge lies in discovering new ways to obfuscate the path while still leaving the markers necessary to follow. Personally, I'm looking forward to more. The what am I? riddles have always been my favorites. See you around.

I have been looking up Raven's old posts to find some of his riddles and I agree, they are riddles of quality. As are the riddles of the two of you!
I'm working on some new ones, experimenting and trying to hide the answer in different ways, it's been interesting. I think the hardest part is the rhyming and making things flow nicely.
Glad you are enjoying them! The "What Am I?" and "What Happened?" sections are my favourite.
By the way, love the Top Gun reference WTF!
