A bit like the reason why winners of nobel prizes live longer on average. Nobel prizes aren't bestowed posthumously, and it often takes a long time to get recognition for your accomplishments.

I was thinking along the lines of rock music not having been around long enough for a significant number of rockers to have died of old age.
