| It depends somewhat on the sentence/paragraph it's attached to; but practically always as some form of "just kidding", somewhere in between and I think is just creepy looking, I don't think I've seen anyone use it here.. is a bit goofy looking, so it seems fitting for goofy/'tongue in cheek' remarks.
