You walk along a path until you reach a fork in the road. One fork will take you home, the other will get you lost. by each fork is a monk. You know that one is a liar and the other only tells the truth. You don't know which is which but you are allowed to ask one question to enable you to find the path home. What one question do you ask that leads you home

"If someone smart would take the road next to you, can xor would he post an easy, well-known, many times repeated riddle in the hard section of a forum, without searching, reading before it?" If the answer is yes, take that road otherwise the other. P.S. It assumes that the liar lies at every subquestion and not after the logical operand. Otherwise welcome to the forum.

The classical answer would be to point at one way and ask: "If would ask the other monk whether this way leads home, would he reply in a negative way?". If you get a "yes" that means you point at the correct way. But you don't need the other monk. You can ask "If I would ask you whether this way leads home, would you reply in a positive way?" A positive answer means it is the way to go. But if you have the opportunity to meet such stubborn liars or truth-tellers, you should take the opportunity and ask: "Will you answer this question in the same way as you would answer the question whether you are ready to carry me home on your back and be my faithful servant for life?" I will let you work it out.

This riddle is a very common riddle, and I bet there are at least 3 different threads of this same riddle. P.S. Don't worry about posting repeats, I did it a lot when I first joined.
