You have been given a rather exquisite 40kg weight for your birthday, by one of your closer, more considerate friends. However, upon your travells, you drop this much apreciated present when it shatters into 4 pieces. You are heart-broken until you realise that with these 4 pieces you can not only weigh 40kg but also every integer numbered weight up to 40kg.
What are the weights of the 4 pieces?
NB: You are using a pair of scales to weigh stuff - another thoughtful birthday present from one of your close friends.
