1883 was a major one. May have been another between 1883 and 1618 ok not looking for volcanoes although AD 79 was pretty tricky.

I think 1921 is the answer, and there is a typo. Perhaps instead of 79, it's supposed to be 709?

hmmm, I didn't do too much investigation, but it would appear that I would need to subscribe to that journal in order to view the pdf.
