Is the question written in code? . Type 4 and then press "HEX" if you have scientific calculator.

Could it be intended to mislead us? Maybe the keystrokes are simply 1,0,0?

How about "5 + +"? On a non-scientific calculator, nineteen repeated presses of the equal button will arrive at 100.

if it's a ten-key calculator, where the add button and equal button are the same, you could just do 99 +/= 1 +/= to get 100, and you've only hit 3 buttons, excluding the = (+/=) key.

| actually, I'm sitting here with my super sweet advanced calculator made by the fine people of...office depot, and I can do it with 2 buttons not counting the = button. Just 5, then +, then = 20 times and I get 100. So I guess you win Sir Col. But I did it in one less button, sort of.

If the number of buttons used is limited not the number of times they are pressed, I can do it by only using two buttons and altogether only 7 pressing. 1 1 1 - 1 1 - or the last one can be = if you want to use three buttons or you have a very sophisticated multiline display calculator

| Actually, Sir Col et al. are making use of a loophole in the original statement: the count is not to include pressing the "=" button. So, their approaches use only 3 button presses other than the "=" button.
