Two very common english words that end in G, R, and Y are ANGRY and HUNGRY. Can you name a third word that ends in G, R, and Y? It must be very common too.

Of all the myriad statements of this riddle that have been posted, yours is the first to separate the letters. However, I can't think of any common words ending in YRG, RYG, GYR right now, either. The most commonly intended answer for this riddle is completely ruled out by your wording (but then again it has always been ruled out by the wording of previous versions of this riddle too - every last single time, the poster botched the wording, and eliminated the answer they were after).

The following page opines that there are several possibilities for what the original riddle was. http://brainyplanet.com/index.php/Gry It also gives an answer to Icarus's interpretation of pcbouhid's wording: energy.

Not sure if this matches the rules of the puzzle but I'd guess "Hung" - which can end in g (hung), r (hunger) or y (hungry). It is a different word to hungry though

Nice article. I particularly liked "nugry": Someone new (presumably) who proposes a well-known riddle. I have a new answer the next time I see Gry posted!
