Key realizations: 1) White has one more move than needed to get the pawn there, so there must be another white piece involved 2) Black's king must have moved to be attackable from f8. and must not be able to move back 3) f8 must be protected form Black's queen, either because she's noved or because a piece other than the king interposes. 4) If black's knight at g8 has moved, f8 is attacked by black's rook at h8 (unless it has moved as well) --SMQ
