If a hen and a half lays an egg and a half in a day and a half, then a hen lays an egg in a day and a half, so a hen lays 2/3 in a day. So a dozen and a half, 18 hens, laying better by half, 2/3 * 3/2 = 1 egg in a day, in a week and a half, 7 * 3/2 = 10.5 days, lay 18 * 1 * 10.5 = 189 eggs. --SMQ

This is an old riddle http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_187.html An hen and a half laying an egg and a half in a day and a half is the same as one hen laying one egg in a day and a half, or One hen lays 2/3 of an egg in a day. so 18 hens lay 12 (2/3*1 eggs a day. Since a week and a half is 10 and a half days, they lay 126 eggs. Rap
