More confusing math: A bottle of wine costs $20. The wine alone costs $19 more than the bottle alone. What is the price of the bottle alone?

| First instinct: $.5 Calculation: bottle = wine - $19 total = bottle + wine total = (wine - $19) + wine $20 = 2wine - $19 $39 = 2wine $19.50 = wine bottle = wine - $19 bottle = $19.50 - $19 bottle = $0.50

Since chuanway double-posted this thread and both threads have replies, but this one does not contain any direct references to his original post, I have deleted the original post and let Grimbal's post take over the lead.

| I think that's because Grimbal didnt know the answer to chuanway's question; so he changed the subject.

That Grimbal would not know the answer to chuanway's question is about as probable as those 100 prisoners getting out on day 100.
