Hello all. I write a puzzles page for my college's newspaper, so I figured I would periodically post some of our original puzzles. Enjoy. In this puzzle, each clue is paired up with another. Fill in the blanks with the correct word. When you are done, the answer to the second clue will sound the same as the answer to the first clue, with the two words exchanged. For example, if the clues were ``Pawns the wood ax'' and ``Sums the table'', the answers would be SELLS the ADZ and ADDS the CELLS. Watch for alternate spellings, double meanings of the same word, and verb tenses. Put the ball through the hoop: _________ the _________ Filmed the segment: _________ the _________ Called upon the house cleaner: _________ the _________ Cooked up the yellow condiment: _________ the _________ Trashes the treaty: _________ the _________ Got ready to go on vacation: _________ the _________ Effortlessly pass the class: _________ through the _________ Flow through the wind: _________ through the _________ Grieving by the memorial: _________ by the _________ Refit my suit before the sun's up: _________ by the _________ Wait on line at Disneyland: _________ _________ the _________ Send in the Travolta substitute: _________ the _________-_________ Stationed in Istanbul, or coming from thereabouts: _________-_________ Prevent baking fowl from getting too dry: _________ _________ Chill the Slurpee look-alike: _________ the _________ Quit showing me pictures of the Parthenon!: _________ _________ the _________!

All correct, except for Cathos last try. That one was very close. I was thinking of a specific veggie, it is orange and spindle shaped and bugs bunny likes it.

You are almost correct on all three, and the third one you give is very different from my answer, but seems ok. You need to put the verb in the past tense kneed. And, how to you spell roomer/rumor. For the veggie one, just consider that things can go from bad to badder (or something).

Ok, so I have some spelling and grammer issues I'm still not sure about the veggie one, I thought I was being so clever using greens. Maybe if someone who has a lisp solves it: Worse it's weight in gold

Hello Cathos, you do not need a lisp. Put your lispy word in the other sentence. Then everything is okay. As in: Wait, it’s worse in carrots Worth its weight in karats How about the new ones?

Wait, it’s worse in carrots Worth its weight in karats Ok, I'm still not understanding it. Doesn't worth have to be a different tense of the word worse? Maybe it's just me. Still working on the rest...

If kellys comes back he can give us the official rules, but I think that they just need to be homonymns and the two answers need to reverse their positions (or move their positions). I have made some with three homonymns so they get reflected over some mysterious axis sometimes.

Sorry they are not homonymns. I was thinking of homophones. But, then they are really homopones either. But, they are pretty close. Sorry again.

Not a problem, I get it now, I just thought I was confused about what a homonym is. What exactly is a homophone? A homonym would be: there their they're, correct? Or is that a homophone?
