My first idea is that "B2" and "B8" stand for "base 2" and "base 8", respectively. Numbers in base 2 are called binary, in base 8, octal. Consequently, "B16" would lead to hexadecimal. Of course, the context in which this question came up could be of help. Please try to write meaningful titles.

wowbagger: I kept looking at the "b" in b16, because it was lowercase. Now, I think the case is meaningless, and you must be correct.

Thanks a lot Wowbagger. You are right. I finally understand the logic behind the question. I was running around in circles uptill now, trying to make some sort of alphabetic series. Thanks for your valuable help. I will also try to write meaningful titles next time.
