I believe I finally have an answer to the mysterious triangle area problem and I hope that I am right because it is ruining my day - after looking long and hard I don't believe that the line is of the red and blue triangles are straight - that is they have a slightly different slope - the red triangles slope is 2.5 while the blue triangles slope is 2.6666 - very similar to the naked eye but you cant make a straight line with 2 differing slopes. I didn't figure out the exact area of both triangle but I believe them to be different because of the differences in the slope. Is this correct so that I can go on about with my life? More to the point, if the line isn't straight, then neither of the big figures is really a triangle, and the question is lying.
