hey... for sure, B and C are not wearing white hats... coz if they are, A wud have guessed wats his hats color is... but in this case, he cant... so it leaves us with these combinations... B = black & C = white; B = white & C = black; and B = black & C = black; and B knows this information... now, its B's turn... he can only see C... lets say that C wears a white hat... then B cud have easily known wat color his hat is... deducing from the combinations... B's hat color wud be black... but B cant tell the color of his hat... so it leaves C the previlege to tell his hat's color which is black...

Yep, that's what I got too. For an interesting expansion on this, try the Green and Red Eyed Trolls puzzle.

I looked at this, and I got a problem with the riddle and the solution... It doesn't state that these men are able to hear the other's answers. I guess it's a matter of poorly worded riddle.

Well the said they could see each other...u could argue that they are really far apart out of ear shot but if they were that far apart B would be able to see A clearly out of the corner of his eye if he was far enough away. and that the only way that they couldn't see each other. but to make all the visablity stuff work they would have to be closer together. CONFUZIN: i dont have a real back up fact but i believe that they can hear each other.
