CORK, BOTTLE, COIN

If you were to put a coin into an empty bottle and then insert a cork in the bottle's opening, how could you remove the coin without taking out the cork or breaking the bottle? There is no condition that says you cannot damage the cork, so you could break it up (with a pocketknife or something) and let it fall inside the bottle.

Actually you don't even really have to damage it. Most times you can just force the cork all the way in.

If you submerge the bottle, the water pressure will build up, and eventually push the cork into the bottle and compress the air inside the bottle. Once the cork is no longer blocking the neck, the coin is free to drop out. As the bottle is brought back up, the air will decompress, pushing the water out and since the cork is floating in the water it will be pushed back into the neck of the bottle. (Of course, you have to go really deep for this to work)

An interesting idea. One that brings up another possibility. Just heat up the bottle until the air pressure gets up to the point that it pops back out again. (Warning: this may exceed the thermal stability of the bottle. I'm not guarunteeing that you can get to a high enough temperature before the glass melts, but you might be able to.) Still not as easy as just pushing the cork it, but it could look much more spectacular.

Pleeeeeeeease. The *obvious* solution is to simply create a device that can "phase" matter, and allow objects to pass through other objects. Just "phase" the coin, and it'll fall through the bottle. I mean, honestly, sometimes the solution is right in front of your nose.

A glass cutter comes to mind.

Since all the answers to this riddle imply very literal reading of the wording, just start with an unusual bottle with a hole in the bottom. Put the coin and cork in with the bottle on its side. Turn the bottle up and the coin drops out. No less silly than the other answers!
