Dear Mr William Wu, I was just wondering if there's some problem with the login system in wu forums(computer problems). i'd logged in after entering 180 in the 'no of hrs u want to remain online' and ticked the checkbox. But after i click on a link(like a topic, newtopic etc anylink on the page) the login page reappears. I then get logged in for once and then again when i click on a link the login page reappears. Can you please tell me what the problem might possibly be. Is there some kind of IP locking system wherein if another comp having the same ip(my comp is a part of a lan that shares an ip) tries to login to wu::forums the other gets logged out. If that's the case, can the administration please try to do something to solve this problem.

Hmm... This must be a new problem, cause I think most older member don't have this problem. BTW, welcome to the forums jagatsatry! P.S. Wu has be AWOL for a while now. This forum is entirely run by the mods.

Well, it might be that '180' is the number of minutes, rather than hours. It may also be a problem with cookies or caching in your browser. I don't have a problem logging in from the same computer in two browsers, so I don't see why working over a lan with one IP should be a problem.

Since yesterday I get a login prompt even when I just want to browse the forum as a guest. Didn't do that before. I didn't change or upgrade my browser (Firefox 2.0)

| William disabled guest access to the boards for reasons to do with abuse by spambots, if I understand it correctly.

So William still comes to the forums, but he just doesn't post much anymore. Am I right?

| He doesn't come to the forum much either, I think. But he still ensures the place can keep running; making sure there's enough space and that the OCF staff doesn't get fed up with us hogging the server resources, keeping spammers at bay, etc.

problem solved: thanks a lot everone I didnt observe that the 'no of minutes' field can take only the values from 0-9. when i'd typed 180, perhaps only the 1st digit was considered and i got automatically logged out after 1min. Anyhow, i suggest there should be a prompt if anyone enters a value>9.

| I still see Guests and users logged on (at the bottom of the homepage). How is this possible? I have to login each time, even to browse the forums.
