Eating Disorders
Anorexia is a psychological disorder where one has a low body image with an obsessive fear of gaining weight. Although this is generally the case for females, even males can have this disorder as well. People with anorexia may take drastic measures, such as voluntary starvation, vomiting, excessive exercise, or use of diet pills. Some doctors believe this psychological disorder has the highest mortality rate, because of its debilitating effects on the body.
Bulimia is often a subsequent disorder that occurs when one has anorexia. Here, a person attempts to purge foods from the system by vomiting. Weight Loss
Losing weight does not mean you simply stop eating. On the contrary, this can actually cause your body to store fat. The human body is programmed to respond to a dramatic drop in consumption by storing body fat for future use. Starving yourself will only make it harder for you to lose weight, and will probably only make you angrier and more frustrated in the process.
Instead, one should learn to moderate consumption of foods. Giving up certain foods, such as ice cream and chips, may work for a short time. However, once you fall off the horse, it's very difficult to climb back on. You can limit yourself to a tiny portion every now and then, as long as you keep an eye on your intake.
Make sure you are exercising daily. If you have the time, stop staring at a computer all day! Get on your butt and head over to a gym! One doesn't even need an actual gym to workout - a simple run around the neighborhood or crunches at home can do the trick. All it takes is determination and a rigorous schedule. Of course, make sure to adjust your diet accordingly. You have to have enough calories to sustain you through the workout.
